Critter of the Week: Diplodocus

Meet Dippy!  A giant with a heart of gold, life is never boring when this big guy is around.  Nothing is out of reach!  He’ll stick his nose into everything until every mystery is solved.

Looks like he’s found a very, very big ball to play with.  That ball is pretty much indestructible, and something that comes in handy when you have curious giants like Dippy around.  He loves food just as much as your average sauropod, but Dippy is…how shall I say?  Easily distracted. 😛

Dippy here loves investigating anything new.  He’s not the sharpest rock around, but when you’re this big, brains aren’t a requirement.  I wonder what he plans to do with that ball?  Pete found his old one flattened out in the pasture a couple weeks ago, so we’ll see how long this one lasts.

What’s that you say?  An accident?  Oh no, I’m sure the ball was squished on purpose.  These guys have an amazing sense of touch.  Dippy doesn’t like stepping on certain things, and he’s very careful where he puts his feet (elephants are like this too).

Dippy seems to like the smooth bounciness.  But who doesn’t like to play every now and again? 🙂

To get an idea on how big the ball is, check out the super-sized balls these horses are playing with. 😉

Making progress…

I hit a bit of a speed-bump last week with that cold (and in the hottest part of Summer ’round here, what gives?). But now I’m back in action!

Turns out there’s a bit of a picture book writer/illustrator’s club kinda near here (I say kinda, because it’s an 1 1/2 away 😀 ), so now I have a solid deadline in mind to have this book dummy finished! I won’t lie, it’ll be awesome to have the dummy book printed so I can take a look at it with fresh eyes.

And, I can get to some honest work on fixing up Dippy vs. Ball for physical publication.  I want to have that out before baby comes, so here’s to crossing fingers that that plan actually works out. 😀  I have no idea how Babysaurus’ arrival will change how I do things.  So I’m working to get as much as possible to get stuff done while things are still moderately predictable.

So, without further ado, here is the updated chart with what I have so far.  🙂  Next week I plan to have the Meet the Critters page you see down there done, so I’ll give a more detailed rundown on the two new pages then. 🙂

Coming Next Week…

Why, oh why must everyone call her ugly?  I really don’t know.  She may not be winning any beauty contests, but she’s a real sweet heart with anyone she meets. 🙂

Share your guess in the comments! She’ll be one of the critters over on the critter page. 🙂

    1. Hi Kaprosaurus, it’s good to see you here! 😀

I know right? Even though it’s still just the dummy book and not the final one, it still feels really good to be so close to finishing it. Like I’m making some real progress. 😀

I plan on having Dippy vs. Ball for sale for about $9 or so, since I’m adding more pages to it. So hopefully I can get that done before the end of January! Once this chart is complete, I’ll have a little chart for the Dippy vs. Ball remodel, so you (and me too!) can see how I’m getting along with it. 🙂

Pete can sometimes have a little trouble wrangling this next critter. She’s big, and she doesn’t like being separated from her herd. 😉
