Critter of the Month: Rhamphorynchus

Meet Ron. He’s the flying ace.  He’ll swoop from the sky, dive into the water, and swim anywhere for a shiny fish. 🙂

He can’t resist the shiny, and sometimes that can get him into trouble! Here’s a quick story about the time Pete was down at the lake…

Making progress…

It’s been a great month full of exciting birthdays and progress. The kids are growing up so fast!

My big girl just had her 7th birthday. She wanted a dinosaur painting party, so I decorated the front porch with jungle vines and a huge “rock” wall for cave painting. Our front porch wraps around the front and one side of our house, and the side area was perfect for a cave wall made from crumpled brown paper. The kids had a blast painting all over the “stone” wall and floor!

Unfortunately I didn’t get any good pictures, so I’ll share some of the art I did for favor bags and such. 🙂

Obviously these animals did not coexist, but my other dinosaur parties were more educational in nature, and this one was purely hamming up the fun of it. I even made a volcano cake! A delicious devil’s food cake with chocolate buttercream frosting and fudge drizzled down the sides. All made from scratch except for the dove chocolate boulders and candy lava spewing out the top. 🙂

My epic exploding volcano cake!

In other news, I’ve been making good progress on the collection. 🙂 It’s nice to see my progress chart getting more colorful! I dedicated one week to see how many Fossil Friday critters I could finish.

I was hoping I could get four critters done, but I forgot that it takes just as much time to write the info as it does to paint the creature. The less known creatures take more time too, so it’s always good to have some wiggle room in the schedule for unknowns and stuff like Dr. appointments. I got two done though, so that means we get two Fossil Fridays this month!

So two Fossil Fridays a month will be the new schedule! I’m thinking the second and third Fridays of the month, since some months drop that last Friday, and the first week has the Critter of the month to fill that slot. 🙂

The last two pictures are a quick trip down memory lane. Ron was last featured nearly two years ago, which was when I posted some of the first items in my Redbubble shop. I bought my Skittles phone cover then. 😀 I should head over there and dust off a few items. Perhaps load some new ones if anyone is interested. 🙂

The progress chart is looking more colorful! 4 down, 10 to go. :)
Apatosaurus mug. One of my favorite mugs!
I loved my Ajax mug when I bought it, may it rest in peace. It was broken beyond repair a few months ago. Perhaps I should dust off the image and buy a new one, or adopt a different critter. 😀
Scutellosaurus iPhone cover. Mine doesn't look so shiny anymore.
I still love my Skittles iphone cover. 😀

Coming Next Month…

He looks tough, but once you get to know him he’s loyal to the core…and more of a softie really. 🙂

Share your guess in the comments! He’s one of the critters over on the critter page. 🙂

Don’t forget Fossil Friday on April 9th!

  1. Hi there Pat. Looks like you have made a compromise. Also, great to see Ron again. And good work on your progress. Is Bowser next in the list?
